How much is it to implement the Scaling Up performance platform?

September 9, 2024 Neale Lewis

You may be familiar with the Scaling Up (Rockefeller Habits 2.0) methodology and are considering implementing it in your own business. Perhaps you’ve read the book and are excited to get your leadership team on board. But how much does it truly cost to make it happen?

Regardless of if you’re a startup with a small team, or a huge company with thousands of employees, you can successfully execute the Scaling Up plan. Tens of thousands of companies across every industry have done it! But it takes is a true commitment from the entire leadership team, and a desire to apply the tools and resources in a disciplined manner.

There is a range in price and investment, depending on how you would like to implement the tools and resources. We’ll take you through each option so you can decide what’s best for your business.

The DIY Approach

The most affordable way to implement Scaling Up is to buy the book by Verne Harnish for £20. It’s a true how-to guide which helps you identify the four foundational levers that drive success in your business - People, Strategy, Execution and Cash. In addition, you can access all the Growth Tools you’ll need to get started, for free! Download them here. If you’d like to purchase a set of 20 paperback copies for your whole leadership team, you can bulk order them here for £199. This may be a great first step in your journey to scaling your business and we’re confident you’ll find many actionable takeaways to implement immediately.

The Group Learning Approach

When it comes to executing the tenants of Scaling Up, a group approach can help tremendously and can serve as a reminder that you’re not alone in some of the obstacles you’re tackling.

A great way to experience the enthusiasm and spirit of Scaling Up is to send your executive team to a public workshop. This will cost between £295 and £495, depending on how many people attend from your company. The workshops are a great way to learn more about the methodology in detail, but don’t require a customised experience. The workshops are either live or virtual and offer an opportunity to network with other like-minded business leaders. Click here to find out how to attend one.

Another popular option is to enrol in the Online Scaling Up Master Course. This is a 13-week online course with self-paced videos, as well as live Zoom sessions led by Verne Harnish and attended by 40-60 fellow business leaders who are also taking the course. Throughout the course, you’ll have an opportunity to get one-on-one time with a Scaling Up Certified Coach, who will guide you through completing your One-Page Strategic Plan. The cost is $2,000 per executive, or $5,990 for a team of 3. Learn more about this option here.

And in just a step further, many businesses find that organising a private workshop for their company is the fastest way to kickstart Scaling Up in a meaningful way. Private workshops are 1 to 3 days and can range in price from £6,000 to £16,000. The workshops are facilitated by a Scaling Up Certified Coach who takes you through all the growth tools. This offers the opportunity for a custom experience that is wholly focused on you and your goals. It also offers a chance to see if a coach is the right option for your company long-term.

The CEO's Scaling Up Forum typically includes eight to ten individuals from non-competing industries who are committed to meeting on a regular basis – typically once a month. The confidential forum allows members to speak openly about the challenges they face as business owners.  The Scaling Up Forums are important because they provide a unique opportunity to share and learn with a group of peers in a completely safe environment. The investment to join a Scaling Up Forum is £12,000 per year. Learn more here.

Our premium global coaching program is the 20,000 Scaleups program. The 20k Scaleups program  puts together decades of hands-on experience, the latest cutting-edge management tools, and individual 1-on-1 support to equip high-potential companies with the skills, instruments, and entrepreneurial passion to grow as fast as possible.  The program is designed to have a maximum of five businesses on each class, which means that you and your leadership team will benefit from a highly focused experience and have an interactive learning from the other entrepreneurs in your class. The academic partnership with Harvard will allow each participating CEO to attend the launch of each new class at the TECH college and on completion of the program the opportunity to graduate with a masters certificate from Harvard. The investment to join the 20,000 Scaleups program is £48,000 per year. Learn more here.

And a final way to execute Scaling Up in a group setting is the Private Implementation Program. This online program helps executive teams of 8 implement a specific area of Scaling Up. Participants complete Verne Harnish’s online course (8+ hours of content), while receiving 8 hours of coaching and guidance from a Scaling Up Certified Coach. In addition, your team will get access to Scaling Up Club for one year which includes 50+ courses to help you dig even deeper into the 4 Decisions. Cost of this program is $14,990. Learn more here.

The Coach Approach

If you’ve gotten pretty far on your own but you’re feeling a bit stuck or even a bit weary from leading this march, a Scaling Up Certified Coach is the most popular and most effective option. A coach gets to know you and every facet of your business. This is a customised, results-oriented relationship in which your coach keeps you and the entire team accountable for achieving accelerated growth using software, growth tools, and on-going frequent communication. Your coach truly becomes a trusted part of your team, acting as a sounding board, a sage, and a personal guide. This long-term approach gives your leadership team the motivation to feel fully engaged and invested in the growth of the company. By leaning on the coach for accountability and action every step of the way, you’ll see disciplined results. Working with a coach can cost anywhere between £30,000 to £80,000 a year depending on how much time you would like your coach to invest.
